ROLFING® STRUCTURAL INTEGRATION

Rolfing® is a registered service mark of The Rolf ® Institute of Structural Integration. The International headquarters is located in Boulder, Colorado, USA. There are also schools located internationally. Almost every major country has a Certified Rolfer, or has heard about Rolfing.

Rolfing is a specialized form of deep tissue massage integrative therapy that balances the body in gravity. While most massage sessions use wonderful techniques to relax you; in addition Rolfing integrates body structure; re-assembling the person into a more balanced physical space. I call this Deep Muscle Alignment. A person receives the benefits of a massage plus the feeling of cohesiveness. Clients report feeling lighter and able to flow with the pace of life; and are resilient to physical and energetic stress.

The Rolfing Technique removes strain patterns in the body, before they become painful or debilitating. Rolfers are highly skilled at working within your comfort zone, and can accomplish a lot in a state of peace and relaxation. My Rolfing Sessions incorporate Yoga postures and stretches to enhance benefits, and the Rossiter® System which integrates Rolfing, Yoga, Shiatsu, foot pressure and gravity to release Body restrictions. www.therossitersystem.com

Training

The professional certified Rolfing training involves intensive schooling at The Rolf® Institute of Structural Integration, and is training beyond the basic massage curriculum. There may be other forms of ‘structural integration’ techniques taught in schools, but these are not to be confused with Rolfing®. Basic training in registered massage schools provides education and opportunities for massage therapists. Rolfing is another excellent technique to help people live better and healthier lives.

How Many Sessions ?

It is up to each person to decide how many sessions to experience. Ten Basic Sessions is a good idea, however, each person has individual goals. You will receive benefit from one to any number of sessions. The more sessions you have; the more integrated and happier your body becomes. You do not “loose” the benefits of a session(s) if you must space them out over time. Each session builds upon the previous one. This process is similar to building a house; once a good foundation is down, it does not disintegrate and fall apart. The builders go back over time and add to the foundation and continue building the house. The more work done on the house, the more detailed and whole the house becomes. The same is true of Rolfing.

Reasons to Seek Rolfing:

Trauma sustained from car accidents, body injuries, falls, general body stress, repetitive work strain, neck, back and eye tension from excessive computer use, and all foot symptoms.

Horses and riders also benefit from Rolfing Sessions. The rider’s posture must be integrated with the horse’s movement. Animal sessions, including dogs, are also available

Athletes use Rolfing to enhance agility, speed and prevent injury. Dancers use Rolfing to help with core stability, body coordination; encouraging support and grace. Music performers especially violinists, pianists, cellists, and singers use Rolfing to remove constant strain patterns in body structure from continuous positioning. People do not need a specific reason to seek Rolfing and many decide to use it as a preventative health measure.

Rolfing restores ease of movement, allowing the body and mind to be at peace. When the major connective tissue called fascia is not pulling in uncomfortable directions; people sleep better, achieve more, and the body requires less energy and becomes a more efficient system.

People from all ages, including young children to older citizens benefit from Rolfing! For further information please go to: The Rolf Institute’s Web Site; http://www.rolf.org
